Views on Culture Diversity

今天，我们生活在一个越来越和平的世界，文化多样性仍然是我们这个世界的一个重要问题，因此，我们应该深入一点点地讨论。文化多样性是不同的或不同的文化素质，而不是单一的，作为全球单一，或同质化的文化，类似于文化的堕落。我们都知道，现在的人们通过各种方式体验不同的文化，比如在全球旅游或欣赏相关的电影或书籍，这都是不寻常的。然而，我们是否应该支持这一全球化与文化多样性之间的关系？

Today we are living in a more and more flat world, thus cultural diversity is still an important issue in our world and thus should be discussed a little bit in depth and width. Cultural diversity is the quality of diverse or different cultures, as opposed to monoculture, as in the global monoculture, or a homogenization of cultures, akin to cultural decay. As we all know that it is not uncommon for people nowadays to experience the different culture via various ways such as traveling globally or enjoying related films or books . However, should we support it or not and is there any relationship between the globalization and culture diversity? 

To begin with, I would take China and the Europe countries as examples to explain the culture diversity and differences. In the long history of China, the strict,traditional and forceful class values are deep-rooted in people’s mind and one of the most obvious example is the centralization for the emperor in ancient China . Dominators distributed their lands to their relatives and meritorious statesman in order to safeguard the rule. Also , foot binding is another manifestation , which means a custom unique in China and women chase for that because it is related to the wealth and status. It is not hard to discern that both of them are the exact examples to show the ancient culture in China. The west countries, however, express the quite opposing values and culture-----more liberalism and equality. As an ideology, liberalism can be traced back to the Renaissance when humanist supports the country's confrontation for authority. In Glorious Revolution, the British Whigs claiming that people have the power to choose the king and can be regarded as a pioneer who advocates of the sovereignty. From such comparison, deeply comprehension could be got in terms of culture diversity. Besides, in terms of compliance and obedience, they also show the different attitudes. In China and some other Asian countries , the positive attitudes are expressed while the negative attitudes are manifested in west countries. 

Should this culture diversity be recommended or not ? Should all the culture diversity be maintained? And how to stimulate the development of the culture diversity?  There is no deny that culture diversity enjoys a large amount of importance. Cultural diversity is a fundamental problem related to the human civilization’s survival. Every civilization and culture has its own history and cultural heritage as well as a unique beauty and wisdom. American anthropologist Burke said: "The value of diversity lies not only in enriching our social life, but also in providing the resources for update and adaptability of the society ." Culture seems like a gene---the world having more and more genes enjoys greater potential. Similarly, the society with culture diversity could be more colorful.

However, I have to reveal an undesirable fact ----not every culture could stand for a long time and they might experience the process from booming to fading. For the first stage of this process, a small cultural groups, with local financial support, commercialize its inspiration and original ideas large culture under the initial commercialization of ideas and inspiration into a new comprehensive style thus to obtain acceptance of outside market. Within this stage, small cultural groups keep its aesthetic sense and temperament (ethos), and maximize the best of its culture. In the second stage, a small culture continues making profits through trade while still keeping its core culture intact, but the internal balance changes with a purpose of meeting cultural preferences of the public. In the third stage, a small culture is specialized, then "forget" how to produce high-quality products which leads to its cultural decline. However, we should correctly treat this phenomenon because cultural decline is not necessarily a recession, it can also be a sign of cultural vitality and wealth; without cultural decline not means a success, sometimes it can be a failure

We should view culture prosperity and fading in a sensible way. Although cultural diversity is important, we should not measure the quality of such diversity only through its quantity. More importantly, the cultural fading is not necessarily a recession, it can also be a sign of cultural vitality and wealth; no cultural decline is also not necessarily a success, but a failure.
