  Solar energy has been widely talked about for decades, when currently there are “persistent concerns about the health and environmental consequences” (Net. 1.), because of its renewable, clean and free features. Since technical advances and economic boom both depend on energy consumption, we human beings are in sore need for a long-term solution for a balance between energy consuming and a healthy living environment. I think, at this point, we should resort to solar power for a bright sustainable future. However, its public acceptance and developing potential are the key barrier that concerns researchers, companies and institutions. From my point of view, measures could be taken from the following three aspects to extend the solar power market and make it more affordable.
  Federal support is the most important issue here in financial and policy support. First, our federal government could establish a pooling of a developing program funding of solar energy, and hold national or intrastate competition over solar power utilization, which could results in creative and practical ideas. After a thorough market research, once they are evaluated to fit in our market, our life would embrace useful solar power devices and projects. In this way, scientific studies and economic application are combined together. That is, not only technology steps forward, but also solar power goes beyond the theoretical level and starts to penetrate our everyday life.
  When it comes to using solar power, high cost is the No. 1 concern of ordinary people. That’s because the public are drown in their own bias that believes solar energy is too expensive to afford. Our education system is responsible to shake off such an out-of-date opinion. Harper has made a strong effort by publishing his book named Solar Energy Projects for the Evil Genius. Through detailed steps and interesting interpretation of solar projects, such as “solar hot dog cooker” (Harper 2007: 46) and a “solar bird engine” (113), he opens the door to real use of solar power using simple tools and materials for every one. Similar publications can be promoted among communities, schools and companies to enrich people’s knowledge and interest towards this new type of energy, making it more and more accessible.
  Yet, we cannot deny the weakness lying in extensive usage of solar power: high cost. It demands the government to take the responsibility of establish an encouraging allowance and rewarding system of solar power, to motivate researchers and target customers to further explore solar power products.
All in all, for me, solar energy has overweighed clean resources like wind and nuclear power, since the former is restricted for geographic reasons and the latter is faced with waste dispose problems. So solar power may be the most-preferred green energy in the future, which requires a conjunct efforts made by every individual, every community and the United State.
