本报告研究课题是在哥特式元素的角度吸血鬼小说的分析，因为哥特式小说被设定在恐怖气氛，压抑的激情原创，勇敢而又神秘的想象和浪漫的情绪背景，并且有很大的影响对文学发展的过程。
In recent years, more movies and TV series about monsters, especially the vampire, have been diversified in the public and appeared .on all kinds of screens. Watching these horrible and exciting shows, I begin to fall interested in the materials of vampire and have read some novels based on vampire, such as The Twilight Saga. After reading such novels for a time, I know that such novels have something relationship with the gothic novels appeared at the end of the 18th century. Therefore, I decided my research topic is the analysis of vampire novels in the perspective of gothic elements, because the gothic novel was set in the background of horrible atmosphere, repressed original passions, brave and mysterious imagine and romantic emotions, and had a large influence on the process of literature development.
To do this research, I will refer to the data base in the college library and browse the Internet for the related materials. I will combine the gothic elements and the vampire novels together and try to analyze the features of vampire novel. In this research, I will analyze why the vampire novel can be considered as a gothic novel, and try to explain the parts of vampire novel in the gothic perspective, such as the novel’s plots, features of main characters,etc.
Besides, after this research, I will try to explore further areas of research. I am going to turn to public media area from the literature area. As is known to us, literature gives readers huge room for imagination. By exploring the literary materials, people can enjoy largely the beautiful characters or exciting development of plots. However, with the development of science and technology, people begin to pay attention to the specific performance of gothic elements with the high-tech media, which may bring better feelings and enjoyment. Also, by researching the gothic elements of media, mainly by films and television, readers can tell the differences of gothic elements performed by literature and media.
By researching vampire in the perspective of gothic novel, some people may say it is no use and meaning for the social issues. I do not agree this idea. Doing this research can help people better realize and understand the increasing monster or vampire films and television series. Such the research can make people understand its sources and meaning of performance. In addition, with the growing social conflicts and people’s upsetting emotions, many people wish to have mysterious powers to help themselves and others in the actual life. But such the wish would be just wish forever. People may put their wish into the films and TV series or novels. This research of vampire novel in the perspective of gothic element can conform to the current people’s emotions and thoughts.
