The New Variant of English

So people are posting on twitter and facebook, all quoting the new form of this expression,” May the fourth be with you.” It did not just happened in the Europe, even in Chinese weibo and QQ zone, Asian people were copying, ”May the fourth be with you.” It took some people a few seconds or a few hints to understand it—because the word FORCE’s pronunciation is similar to the word FOURTH, people were joking around to mix them together, hoping to create a bit of festive atmosphere. The supporter of the new variant of old English expressions claimed it to be a fun twisting of words, however, some officials called it an insult to English. For them, those who mix the words FORCE and FOURTH together mean that they cannot pronounce the word in the right way. It even inserted a bad impact on the Asian writers since they have already had trouble pronouncing English words. Now that the English native speakers are mixing two different words together, it led to a greater confusion for people who are learning English as their second language. 

But the change did not happen for no reasons. As people in the new ago are rushing into the new development, the economy is faster, the food is “faster” and people need to act faster. As they are getting more messages and texting online every day, it takes too much time for them to type the standard form of English. Therefore, people have to seek faster manner of writing English by choosing the new letter words CU instead of SEE YOU. As a result, this change of language actually responded to the change of age and the fast pace of new modern world. Besides, it is a habit for people to play with their own language by using the similar words. 

On the other hand, officials deem it as an insult of the language because the correct form of the language has been handed down to the new generation from the Shakespeare’s time. The essence and the beauty of language has been exit for a thousand year, remaining as the precious legacy. It is not acceptable to see the language degrade in such a manner. Also, because students are the group of people that use the new form of English the most, educators are worried about their use of language will be worse and it is hard to them to write an article with good thoughts, good qualities and good spellings, given that students are exposed to so much bad form of spelling. 

To conclude, the new variant of English was created because people in the modern world need to create a faster and more efficient way to communicate, also, they find it fun and creative to mix words and expressions that share similarities. However, the opponent of the change of English deem is as an insult to the language because they value the correct form of English as the precious legacy and they are concerned about the students’ ability to write profound and high quality articles will be decreasing. Also, it is deemed as a big concerned that as the English native speakers are spelling the words in the wrong way, it will be confusing and difficult for the students from non-native English speaking countries to pick up English.
