Endangered and extinction Species Protection

现在地球上，在我们的一生，可能有一半的生物因为自然变化或者人类活动的原因，濒临灭绝，永远消失。保护生物多样性就非常重要了，人类需要保护环境停止开发自然栖息地。让生物与人类共存永续。

1. Introduction of Endangered and Extinction Species

Extinction refers to the disappearance of species or taxonomic units. It is occurring when there are no surviving individuals in the world.  How to fight against the rising number of endangered and extinct species. At present, 5000 endangered animal species are on the verge of extinction, among which at least one species dies out every year and probability more without our knowledge. On the basis of assistant professor Bradly Cardinale, thanks to the significant growing extinction rate, half of the earth species might extinct during our lifetime which is a shocking fact. 

Irreversible loss of species is a part of biological evolution which could be a natural occurrence by a long-period environmental stress, or unexpected natural catastrophe, or natural diseases. However, apart from the natural causes, human activities become the dominant reason which significantly raises the rate of animal endangerment and extinction and global environment change as well. 

The most well-known causes of species losing are direct take or killing, habitat disturbance, and also climate change. 

For thousands of years, human kills or takes animals for their own sake. Human kills for multiple reasons, including food collection, and self-protection. Take the sea life as an example, 55% of the major extinction threat of North American marine fishes is the excessive exploitation. In the light of biological, physical and chemical factors, the habitat of animals is profoundly affected. For example, the commercial development of coastal area leads to the change of the near-seashore ecosystem. The widespread climate change caused by global warming is considered as a threat the endangered species. The water temperature increases which might be not suitable for the original marine habitants to survive.

2. How to Face the Challenges of Species Losing

Keeping biodiversity not only plays a role in the human health and business, but also provides leisure, cultural and aesthetic value. To maintain a colorful and diversified world, measures should be taken to maintain and improve the current ecosystem. As the major threat of the species, human should take the responsibility to defend them from extinction no matter the moral aspect or physical perspective.             Biodiversity has a direct connection with human population. And the connection is both positive and negative. First, the ever-growing population imposes a great pressure to the ecosystem. In order to feed the population, human seeks food and more comfortable living environment from the nature which directly leads to the disturbance of ecosystem. Second, biodiversity could serve the human health. According to Felicia Keesing and Drew Harvell, some species could act as a buffer between human beings and deadly diseases, such as West Nile Virus and Lyme disease. Meanwhile, marine species also could purify water to provide more drinkable water to the increasing population. Furthermore, the diversified natural lives could offer critical support to the drug test which might save millions of lives. 

An integrated mechanism could be established to slow down or stop the extinction through public education and field practice. Human beings could cut down or stop the development and exploitation of natural habitats of animals and reduce the toxic emissions of fossil fuel burning. On the other hand, a public awareness of maintaining a healthy ecosystem should be established to collect support from all walks of life.
