On the whole, the literature review does an OK job, as it provides many workable theories and an understanding of the issue that he discusses and raises the research question at the beginning that the difference between the so-called environmentalist and real environmentalist exists. Also, the writer presents a clear topic at the beginning for readers to get the point easily. Overseeing the review, it shows four perspectives of exploration the topic of environmentalism smoothly from one by one. However, the essay does not move beyond description or reporting, because he seems to just list a series of sources and does not pay more attention to the analysis on the quotes. Focusing mainly on the descriptions of the quotes, the essay does not actually explain the research questions that need to be answered, although it raises the research question at the beginning. In spite of that, the writer does a good job in synthesizing to focus on ideas instead of sources. Every time the writer cites the quote, he or she will expand the idea of source rather than list the source. In addition, the essay also does well in paraphrasing the citations rather than using direct quotes.
The strengths of the essay are focusing on the ideas and paraphrasing the citations when using the sources. Also, the essay presents a good beginning by raising a research question and detailing a statement to make readers catch the topic easily and quickly. Besides, the smoothness of the statements of each sources is one of the strengths as well. As for the weaknesses, the essay does not explain the research question in the following parts and not pay attention to the deeper analysis of each source. Therefore, if I made the review, I would explain research question in detail and pay more attention to the sources rather than just describe them.
