Kyla Briana Ross, also known as Kyla Ross with nicknames including Mighty Mouse and Silver Princess, is a famous American artistic gymnast. Kyla Ross is famous for her contribution to American women’s artistic gymnastics. In 2009, when Kyla Ross was 13 years’ old, she joined the U.S. Women’s Gymnastics team as an elite member of the national team. In 2012, as a member of the American Women’s Gymnastics Team, Ross and her team won a gold medal in the team competition at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London. Moreover, at the 2014 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, Ross showed excellent performance and helps the US Women’s Gymnastics Team won the gold medal. In addition to the team achievement, Kyla Ross also made a great number of great individual achievements in the sports field. For example, at the 2014 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Nanning, China, Kyla Ross won the bronze medal in the all-around event. And at the 2013 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Antwerp, Belgium, Kyla Ross won the silver medal in the all-around event (Usagym. Org). Kyla Ross demonstrated her talents soon after professional training at her early ages. From the age of 9 to 11, Kyla Ross won state titles as gymnast for five times and national titles twice. In 2008, she also won title on events of all-around and balance beam and got her first national champion at the 2008 Junior Olympic National Championships in the events of the balance beam, all-round and floor exercise (Usagym. The elite gymnastics career of Kyla Ross started in 2009 when she was 13 years’ old. In 2009, Kyla Ross won the second place at the American Classic Game which held in San Diego in the all-around event, the first place at the CoverGirl Classic Game which held in Des Monies in the event of balance beam and all-around.

In 2012, Kyla Ross attended the Olympic Games for the first time in London, UK. As a member of the US Fierce Five, the American gymnastic team, she had an excellent performance in the first place and helped the American team won the gold medal.

In 2013, Kyla Ross firstly got a severe injury in her ankles, which significantly influenced her gymnastics career and her health. As a result, she had to quit the 2013 American Cup. For example, on August, 2015 in the P&G Championships, Kyla Ross underachieved in the competition and she only got the 10th place in the all-around event. In fact, since 2015, Kyla Ross faced a great barrier in her sports career due to her injuries. Kyla Ross graduated from Aliso Niguel High School in Aliso Viejo, California in 2015. With the passion for gymnastics, Kyla Ross kept training. In order to prepare for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Kyla Ross even deferred her plan for college enrollment.

On February 22nd, 2016, Kyla Ross announced that she would retire from elite gymnastics through Twitter. Today, Kyla Ross was enrolled by University of California, Los Angeles and shifted her focus on collegiate gymnastics.

As an Asian American elite, Kyla Ross also contributes significantly to advancing Asian America.
