Basic introduction

Mercedes Sosa, Argentina famous female musicians, is the representative of the “New Song Movement”.  She was born on July 9 in 1935 in the northwestern province of Tucuman, Argentina. She became famous overnight since she starts singing at the age of 15. In the 1960s, Sosa became one of Argentina "song movement" representatives who reflect the social reality and the aspirations of the common public through ballads and enjoy the name of "political conscience"  in the ] Argentina. 
In the late 1970s, Sosa was arrested and put into prison because singing songs which showed his attitude of opposing government and then she was forced into exile in Europe. Despite living in a foreign land, Sosa continued singing and insisted on her political stance and used them to  express the pain away from the motherland.In the early 1970s, Sosa released two concept albums in collaboration with composer Ariel Ramírez and lyricist Félix Luna: Cantata Sudamericana and Mujeres Argentinas (Argentine Women). She also recorded a tribute to Chilean poet Violeta Parra in 1971, including what was to become one of Sosa's signature songs, Gracias a la Vida. In the 1980s, the government collapsed so that Sosa was able to return to their homeland at that time. 
She has won numerous international awards including the Latin Grammy Awards. What’s more , she is recognized as one of contemporary music's greatest singer. She also served as a Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO. 
On October 4 in 2009, Sosa died at 74 due to renal failure in a hospital in the capital and then  buried on October 5. 
In a career spanning of four decades, she worked with performers across several genres and generations, folk, opera, pop, rock, including: Martha Argerich, Andrea Bocelli, David Broza, Franco Battiato, Joan Baez, Francis Cabrel and so on.
