American dream, everyone’s dream

Since 1776 of American built, generations of Americans believe firmly that, one can obtain a better life only by a long time of hard struggle, which means that people move towards prosperity through their own diligence, courage, creativity and determination, rather than rely on a particular social class and assistance from other people. In the past two hundred years, American dream has inspired young people all over the world to come to this land to realize their own value. Therefore, American has become the cradle of successful people across the world（Hopper, 9）.
Generally speaking, the "American Dream" contains several elements. The United States offers everyone the chance to success; success depends on their talents and efforts, rather than family background; everyone has the equal rights; everyone has the freedom of conscience.
300 years ago, when the England immigration riding on the May flower ship crossed the Atlantic to Maryland, looking for a piece of pure land for the Puritans can live, the "American Dream" had begun to quietly sprout - the United States gave everyone in the world equal opportunity. As long as the efforts, one can achieve their dreams.
Before and after the civil war, the United States began the industrialization. more and more European settlers came into the emerging industrial city like New York, Chicago, Detroit and so on（Cullen, 28）. Since then, the "American Dream" has a new connotation. During this period, it appeared many business moguls who started to struggle. For example, Edison relied on personal invention and later founded the GE Corp Rockefeller who created the oil kingdom, Morgan make lots of bank and Ford who invented the automobile production line. Their common characteristic is that building up from poverty but established their big careers through hard work finally, to become a legend. In the twenty-first Century of the information era, Steve Jobs of Apple, Bill Gates of the Microsoft and Yang Zhiyuan of Yahoo And the three founders of GOOGLE, have become the new idol of the American dream. They rely on their wisdom, accumulated a huge asset of tens of billions of dollars at their young age. Their living stories seems to be that, as long as one have wisdom and talent, he can succeed in America.
The rapid economic development and industrial expansion in the USA is not only the reason of the America abundant natural resources, but also the condition that everyone has the opportunity to access through their own struggle for wealth（Hanson, 570–584）. American dream become the main reason of a migration of people around the world moving to USA, whether in the past or at present. Today, there are more than one million people becoming America citizens every year, and America is the world's most popular immigration place. Today, many Americans still believe that their country is the embodiment and spokesperson for encouraging social level longitudinal flow, and believe that a person can success relying on personal ability rather than family ties, even women or blacks is no exception.
