Wind energy

    风力发电一直是一种有争议的资源，因为它是利用大自然不可控制的因素制造的。有的人反对利用风能认为它需要很高的成本，而我认为与风能带来的好处相比，这些问题是微乎其微的，可以解决的。

    Wind energy has been a kind of controversial resources since it was utilized. People who oppose the use of wind energy hold the view that it requires high cost and needs considerable government support. Some may also say that wind energy is not that reliable because it blows sometimes and does not blow in the rest of time, which means that it is uncontrollable. And if the wind does not blow when we need energy, it may result in a lot of problems.

    However, it is pointed out that problems caused by the instability of wind energy can be solved. It is said that wind energy holds a key position in electric utility generation portfolios and can provide continuous electricity without interruption with the help of the whole system. The core of the resolution is that “when wind isn't blowing, reliable electrical service is maintained by turning up the output of other generators on the electric power system”. The whole system will operate together and it will dispatch different operators according to the wind and electrical demand in different times. According to report, together with other operators, wind can provide clean, affordable and reliable power. Moreover, the time for wind to change has also offered us some time to respond to the emergency. According to the report, “it typically takes over an hour for even a rapid change in wind speeds to shut down a large amount of wind generation”. Therefore, wind forecasting tools can also help us to solve the problem. In conclusion, compared with the benefits brought by wind energy, these problems are trivial and can be solved.
