The product includes not only the physical product, but the services entailed. In the case on of online marketing, it includes the pre-sale customer service and the distribution channels. On Dior’s web page under fragrance, dreamy and even poetic words were used to describe the product, and each line carries a specific name. Videos with elements of flowers, beach or beautiful models are captured to convey the inspiration and ideas behind the product. Sometimes similar names were used to suggest the inner linkage between product. And such strategies are often used to promote new products on the base of a product that was already proven successful. However, little pre-sale services are available, such as users’ comments, which is one of the most common sources that customers often seek suggestions for before purchase.

Dior did a great job in differentiating their fragrance products in terms of price. Comparing to its other lines such as luxury bags and read-to-wear, fragrance’s prices are more commonly acceptable. And the names of fragrance can explicitly convey the idea and messages regarding to the audience they targeted at. Names such as Ms. Dior, Poison Girls are clearly targeting at young, adventurous urban girls. And therefore, pop stars can often been seen representing the line as they have more traffic driving powers among younger girls.
