Sponsorship Programs 2010
An estimated 10,000 people will gather at Chicago’s lakefront to participate in the City’s largest outdoor AIDS fundraising event: AIDS Run & Walk Chicago. In the spring of 2010, AIDS Run & Walk Chicago was named one of the top 10 sports events in Chicago by Biz Bash. This ethnically and socially diverse crowd has one thing in common: they are committed to fight the spread of HIV and to help those already impacted by the disease. As a sponsor of the AIDS Run & Walk Chicago your company will be associated with one the area’s important AIDS fundraising events. Your company will have an opportunity to build affinity and trust with your target market through emotional and cause-related experiences involving your company. Event Specifics: Date: Saturday, October 2, 2010 Location: Grant Park/Columbus & Balbo - Downtown Chicago Expected Attendance: 10,000 Event Description: AIDS Run & Walk Chicago is a fundraising event in the fight against HIV/AIDS that benefits the AIDS Foundation of Chicago. Over the past decade this outdoor event has raised more than $19 million. Money is raised three ways: 1) Participants are asked to pre-register for the 5k and 10k Run or 5k Walk; 2) Raise additional money through pledges; 3) Corporations are solicited for sponsorship and marketing support. The run/walk course is on the lakefront, featuring beautiful views of Chicago’s famous skyline. Participants will be treated to entertainment along the route, water/aid stations and post event awards and entertainment. Finish line refreshments and sponsor sampling/display booths will be positioned for pre- and post-event opportunities. The Fitness & Health Village will feature information from dozens of local AIDS service organizations. This is a unique opportunity to gather information about HIV/AIDS related services and volunteer opportunities.

Attendance: More than 10,000 participants are expected this year. AIDS Run & Walk Chicago will attract more participants than any other AIDS run and walk in the Midwest, and will hold the title as the largest outdoor AIDS event in the Midwest. Event Components: 5k and 10k Run or 5k Walk Pre-event on-line registration Pre-registration locations prior to the event throughout Chicago Event day, on-site registration Website for the event -- www.aidschicago.org 100,000 printed brochures 1,000 printed posters Extensive marketing & public relations support Route entertainment Post-event entertainment and awards Refreshments and sponsor sampling/display booths Pre-event outreach promotions
Beneficiary: AIDS Run & Walk Chicago benefits the AIDS Foundation of Chicago (AFC). The Foundation is the Midwest’s largest private source of philanthropic support for AIDS, a model of service coordination and Illinois’ principle advocate for people affected by HIV/AIDS. All event proceeds will be directed to the AIDS Foundation of Chicago’s grant making program, which has provided community-based agencies nearly $19 million in support since 1988. The AIDS Foundation of Chicago works to ensure that available funds are directed to services and communities most in need. AFC grant reviewers meet with members of the HIVS/AIDSimpacted communities to discuss emerging trends and identify gaps in services. AFC gives funding priority to community-based agencies serving and governed by people of color in recognition of the disproportionate impact that the disease is having on African-American, Latino and other minority communities.
AIDS service organizations that are members of the AIDS Foundation of Chicago’s Service Provider Council can form CommunityDirect teams where 100% of the pledges raised by their teams will be immediately returned to their organization. Last year there were more than 80 CommunityDirect teams.
