Theory Assignment 2 Name: Joe Fifield Date: 25/4/10 Task: Identify the key aspects of current legislative requirements and codes of practise relevant to your subject and type of organisation within which you would like to work 150250 words. As a UK registered company it is important that we are aware of and adhere to all the relevant legislative requirements (education, data protection etc) and follow a code of practise when delivering our training sessions. As our training takes place both in the UK and overseas we need to pay special attention to the relevant health and safety laws that affect our training. In the case of teaching first aid for example we need to be aware of the health and safety issues relating to manual handling. Whilst working overseas for various Aid Organisations many of them are child focused and have very clear child protection policies to which we must be aware of and comply with at all times. Part of our UK training involves a hostage survival exercise. To have students participate in this exercise we gather personal information about them in advance. This information may include any pre-existing medical conditions that may affect their ability to take part in the training, such as a bad back. Due to the sensitive nature of the information we are collating as a company we need to be aware of all relevant laws in regards to data protection. In this exercise students are hooded and handcuffed for long periods of time and moved into different stress positions. To enable us as a company to do this safely we have developed a Code of Practise that all of the role players in the exercise must strictly adhere to. Word Count: 247
