Write about the beginning and of the end of a relationship that you have experienced. The Stages of a modern Teenage Relationship In my experiences of teenage romance, as little as it may be, I have discovered that there are four main stages to the relationship of a teenager. Using a story of my own I wish to show you these stages, from how it all starts to how it all ends. Stage One: The Beginning It all starts at a party. We caught each other eyes on the dance floor and gave each other the nod. Then we both danced towards each other. “Do you want get a drink,” he shouts in my ear. I nodded vigorously. After sitting for a while in the corner and polishing off a fare amount of drink, I was on a high. My confidence was through the roof and at that moment no one could bring me down. Then there was the gaze. It is a sort of warning sigh to tell you to stop talking, laughing or anything of the sort, as he is going to kiss you. After the kiss Nathan and I cuddled for a while and the swapped phone numbers. This was vital for stage two. Stage Two: Texting The next morning after the party I was woken up by a buzzing noise. I reached over to my phone. “WDC,” was written. This was quiet confusing. The fact that he wrote in capital letters meant that he was enthusiastic and really wanted to know. However, the fact that he wasn’t bothered to write, “What’s the crack'” showed that he wasn’t that enthusiastic after all. After Replying “Nothing,” the conversation got slightly more exciting after that. The problem with texting is that you can be as outspoken and as flirty as you want because the person isn’t actually there. Face to Face is a completely different matter. Once I returned to school the awkwardness set in. My school is quite small so it is highly possible that I would bump into him. One we did we avoided all eye contact and no communication between us. Once we are out of sight of each other the texting would then happily continue as we hadn’t just ignored each other existence. After a couple of days of this sense of panic, once we saw each other. We decided to meet up. Stage Three: Meeting up I think this was the first time we had talked face to face since the party. At first it was extremely awkward, like when your deaf granny farts in front of a guest and you don’t know what to say. After a while the conversation got flowing and we actually got on really well. We still didn’t talk to each other in front of other people but once we saw each other in school we gave the acknowledging nod. It was a way a saying hello without other people noticing, then came the holding of hands. This made our relationship public, to anyone would actually did care. Even though it was a sign of affection, I hated it. All I could think was, “Please don’t let my hand go all sweaty.” I could tell he was thinking the same thing. As sweat as our relationship was it had to come to an end. Stage four: The Breakup After a couple of week of this whole relationship thing, the relationship started to dwindle. Rumours had surfaced that I “was really into Nathan.” First I’ve heard of this. I liked spending time with him but I didn’t like him that much. He confronted my about this. When I tried to explain to him that I didn’t actually like him that much, he got really offended. He started rambling about what’s the point in us being together if I didn’t like him. I tried to tell him that I did like him, just not that much. This didn’t help as he seemed to get even more insulted. He stormed off in a huff and I was left standing there, completely confused. Later that day, I got a text, no not a text, a breakup text. It went on about how unfair this was all on me, as he didn’t like me as much as I liked him. How he didn’t want to hurt me. Funny thin was I wasn’t hurt, I found it somewhat comical that he took this all so serious. At school the awkwardness and avoiding eye contact has returned. I found a new way of avoiding him. When I see or hear him coming I just start pretending that I am looking for a piece of paper amongst my books. I hope you now fully understand the four stages of a modern teenage romance, from how it all starts to how it all ends.
