Unit 4222–202 Introduction to Personal Development in Health, Social Care or Children’s and Young People setting (SHC 22)
Outcome 3
Sources of support for your learning and development can come from a wide range. Formal support networks – are likely to be set up by your employer, they may include, work colleagues, supervisors etc. Informal support networks – are likely to consist of work colleagues, these can provide a major source for support and assistance. Supervision – Your supervisor’s role is to support and advise you in your work and make sure you know and understand policies and procedures it is also an opportunity to feedback information on any subjects you wish. You can reflect on your own practice and also identify areas for development. Appraisal – Normally are made from senior members of the work force and gives you the opportunity to discuss your work and any training you may need. In-house or external training and development – an organised way to reflect on your own practices and identify strengths and weaknesses. It also helps you to learn and expand your own knowledge and understanding. A personal development plan is a very important document as it identifies your development and training needs. A plan should be worked out with your supervisor and should address what you want to achieve and the best ways to do so. A personal development plan should consist of your own practical skills, communication skills, goal setting and reaching targets you set yourself. Setting out tables is a good way of breaking down your goals as a table for; training and development, short term, long term, milestones and updates to keep track and make changes if necessary on targets set.
