Government Censorship Government Censorship Censorship is a topic that has brought about much controversy. There have been many different arguments, however the question still remains as if it should be censored or it should not be censored. The government¡¥s censoring of the violent, pornographic movies, MTV, TV programs are good policies for children who still have a children soul. Nevertheless, if the censorship is totally the control of the media through the government, it seems to be a dictatorship, for example, China censored a lot of subtle arts and political news which concerned Taiwan. Last year, China strongly reacted to a famous singer in Taiwan who sang the R.O.C national anthem during our new president¡¦s inauguration ceremony. Therefore, China¡¦s TV stations, newspapers and billboard owners have been ordered to stop running a Sprite commercial which was made by this singer, Hui-mei Cheng. In Fact, the R.O.C national anthem is not the sole target of Chinese censorship. Meanwhile, HongKong singer Leon Lei was also forced to rewrite a song on his new album because the tune incorporated part of China¡¦s anthem. The Chinese reaction to these two singers is ridiculous.
