Of the first five assessments, RAE2001 was considered the most rigorous. In 2005, RAE2008, based on the RAE2001 policy, was launched. In light of social development and changes in the higher education, RAE2008 has made significant changes in the evaluation of organizational structure, the appointment of members of the evaluation group, the content and format of submissions, and the methods and procedures of the evaluation.
