I believe it was only I and maybe 20 other students present in the hall. The seats were almost filled and the crowd seemed well suited for the occasion. The performers seemed pleased, comfortable, and happy with their surroundings. The audience seemed pleased and excited. I was enthusiastic for being at my first concert. The sound of each instrument could be heard throughout the hall. The quality of sound was amazing, and it was as if I were sitting next to the conductor. I sat on the upper balcony, so I was able to see every performer clearly. I did not want to sit on the main floor because I would not see the overall picture as I did from the balcony. The audience was very attentive and looked pleased with the presentation. The event was supported and sponsored by two groups/companies that were mentioned before the concert began.
The first piece played was elegant and only involved the use of violins, cellos, violas, and basses. It had a simple melody and was easy to follow mostly because it was short. The conductor was very smooth in his movements and looked very calm.
The second piece, just before the intermission, included all of the instruments from percussion to trombones to violins. The piece had a very complex melody and took up most of the first half. It had a very fast tempo yet all of the instruments merged to form a beautiful sound.
I felt at home with both pieces and daydreamed of scenarios that would fit the music being played. The mood was cal at times and thrilling at others. Both pieces seemed to me like they would be played at the beginning or end of a mystery movie. They both had high and low points where they would create anticipation and suspense followed by the crescendo of loud instruments and drums.
The third was joyful as if to represent a happy occasion like the beginning of the spring season. It made remember warm summer days. This concerto happened to be my favorite. The fourth piece could have been played at some sort of mournful gathering. It presented a sad mood. I could imagine a man walking through a dark forest with no end in sight. The fifth and final piece was cheerful and had a slow tempo. The entire masterpiece blended together harmoniously. All five parts of the evening showed great talent and passion.
The performers looked professional and happy to be playing for the crowd. I heard no faults in their playing and was impressed with them. The event was very mrable and I would be more than willing to attend something like it in the future. I would come here to relax and get my thoughts away from the worries of the outside world.
